'Salsette decouvre l'Amerique': un naif a New York

Article Abstract:

Jules Romaines portrays New York from the perspective of a naive character in his 1942 'Salsette decouvre l'Amerique.' This approach allows the novelist to depart from the polemics of the essayist tradition and to defend the United States. 'Salsette' falls into the category of a 'portrait study,' as an urban novel, and represents the tradition in French literature of the provincial, marked by enthusiasm for the capital. Article text is in French.
