The 13-step renovation plan

Article Abstract:

A plan is presented of how to complete a renovation project effectively and economically in 13 steps. Step 1, development of an idea, takes place a year or more before actual renovation begins, and Step 13, roll with the punches, involves accepting delays and disappointments as part of the process.

Marcie and T.R. Risk are both involved with design work and as well as owning a shop the couple also own a 1920s twin house in Wayne, PA. The couple have restored the property with renovated pieces and their own furniture.

House of pain

Article Abstract:

The experience of restoring a nineteenth century colonial house in Chester County, PA, which was bought at auction is described. The restoration took a long time and has been problematic, but has been worth the effort.
