When the levee breaks

Article Abstract:

Literal flood prevention is hard to come by and the Levee Board announced that it expects more than a fifty percent drop in property tax income. The larger, sturdier levees required to protect the city of New Orleans from category five hurricanes like Katrina and Rita are deemed to be expensive at $32 billion, though Hurricane Katrina cost $75 billion in property damage alone, and the reaction of leaders and administrators has been less than encouraging in urgent rebuilding measures.

Come hell or high water

Article Abstract:

As a child hurricane was the most loved as it meant days off school and the parents downplayed their fears so well that no one could ever guess how nervous they were. However as a parent it is the other way around, since it means protecting the children from the storm and the relief of seeing family members safe is best expressed by clinging to each other and crying to get over the feeling of fear and insecurity.
