A survey of 802 residents who are 18 and older and living in the nine-county Philadelphia region revealed that Philadelphians are proud of their state and optimistic about its future. However, the respondents also admitted that they believe Philadelphia is 'dirty' and is a racist state.

Philadelphians are focusing on tourism as a way to retain their city's greatness. Focusing on a good image, however, has not done much to improve Philadelphia's ratings in a variety of national polls. Since 1981, Philadelphia has ranked from the first to the 233rd place in these polls.

Seven professionals who moved to the city less than two years ago discuss the merits of Philadelphia, PA. The sense of community, cultural activities, public transportation and friendly people are cited as reasons to like the city.
