91% of RPh's urge curbs on Rx drugs switched to OTC

More drugs are available without prescription, and most pharmacists find this boosts their sales. Some pharmacists think sales should be restricted by an initial physician's prescription or by the pharmacist's discretion, or both.

Supermarket pharmacies take 8.6% share of Rx volume; further gains are likely

Supermarkets' share of retail prescription sales rose to 6.9% in volume and 8.6% in dollar value in 1982. The number of supermarket pharmacies increased by 43% from the 1979 survey.
