A cheaper way to insure your treasures

Article Abstract:

It is worth considering using a specialist insurance policy for valuable art works and antiques, as premiums can often be lower than those offered by a non-specialist insurer. There are also benefits to be gained from dealing with an insurance company that has extensive knowledge of the antiques market. Nordstern Art Insurance Ltd, which specializes exclusively in art works and antiques, employs people who have a background in arts as well as insurance. It operates a system of agreed values, ensuring that in most cases a claim for losses is met very quickly and in full.

When the bank is bare ...

Article Abstract:

It is worth considering trying to raise money from a pawnbroker if cash is required immediately for a short period and it is not possible to obtain money from a bank. There are around 600 pawnbrokers in the UK, while the National Pawnbrokers Association has 240 members. The APR quoted by a pawnbroker will seem much higher than that charged by a bank, but it is important to realize that a bank's APR does not take into account additional charges, such as letters on the state of the account.
