The Tories seem to have grown even more pitiful

Article Abstract:

The UK Conservative party has become very introspective, particularly as it seeks to elect a new leader. Neither of the candidates for the leadership seems to have the potential to really revive the party's fortunes.

Unexpurgated Lewinsky tales may yet finish Clinton

Article Abstract:

There is speculation that Monica Lewinsky could reveal more details about her relationship with President Bill Clinton. Details are already common knowledge among journalists and there is speculation that they will be published, but the timing is uncertain. There is a gap between opinion poll measurements of approval of Clinton as president, which are favorable, and the less favorable views of Clinton's credibility in personal terms. There is also a majority in favor of dropping the Lewinksy case.

A doctor, defiant, shot dead for his beliefs by a lone abortion terrorist

Article Abstract:

A New York obstetrician, Dr Barnett Slepian, has been shot dead after having been a target for campaigners against abortion for over 10 years. The killing was condemned by New York's governor, George Pataki, and by some anti-abortion campaigners including Karen Swallow Prior, a Right to Life candidate for the deputy governorship of New York state. Her condemnation indicates that virulent sentiment against abortion is coming to be seen as more extreme in US politics.
