A radical thorn in the Pope's side

Article Abstract:

The Catholic Church exists to serve ordinary people, not to fulfill its own purposes, according to Jacques Gaillot, former bishop of Evreux, France. He has recently become the voice of public opinion in France, and has therefore attracted considerable controversy. He has expressed many unorthodox views, and has constantly challenged the Vatican's position on a wide range of subjects. He has particularly emphasised the plight of the unemployed, homeless and immigrants.

A fine body of work

Article Abstract:

French sculptor Aristide Maillol is one of the three greatest sculptors of all time, ranking with Michelangelo and Rodin, according to Dina Vierny, who was his model and muse. She also posed for Matisse, Bonnard and Dufy, but is most well known for her work with Maillol. He sculpted her in many different forms, even though they met when she was only 15 and he was already 73. They worked together for 10 years until Maillol's death in 1944.
