A river runs through it

Article Abstract:

A converted old mill can make a very attractive home. However, many insurance companies in the UK are wary about offering insurance on such a property, regarding it as a non-standard risk. They are particularly concerned about the risk of flooding, and it will be necessary for the owner of a mill property to show that measures have been taken to minimize this risk. Owners of mill properties find it very relaxing to be able to hear the sound of the water running underneath or alongside their house.

Let's see the colour of your money

Article Abstract:

The UK government's new stakeholder pensions will not necessarily be suitable for everybody's financial circumstances. Young people in their first job and on a relatively low salary should probably wait before starting a stakeholder pension, as they would not be able to save very much. Some people would benefit from remaining in the pension scheme provided by their employer, but they may wish to consider making extra payments through additional voluntary contributions.

Time runs out for business to switch to colour

Article Abstract:

Some large UK companies are beginning to recognize the importance of having more people from ethnic minorities in their workforce. They believe that this approach will allow them to increase their credibility as the proportion of people from ethnic minorities in the population rises and consumer markets become increasingly diverse. So far, more enlightened recruitment policies have had very little impact on the racial composition of corporate management.
