A song and dance for Europe

Article Abstract:

The Royal Court Theatre won the New Theatrical Realities prize at the Europe Theatre Prize event in Sicily. This prize recognized the Royal Court Theatre's work in promoting plays by dramatists including Mark Ravenhill and Conor McPherson across Europe and in encouraging international exchanges with other theatres. It is possible to raise a number of reservations about the Europe Theatre Prize itself, particularly the fact that this event seems to be designed largely to promote Sicily.

E. Clive Rouse

Article Abstract:

E. Clive Rouse was an archaeologist who specialised in United Kingdom church wall paintings. He was born in 1901 and studied at St Martin's School of Art, later working with E.W. Tristram at the Royal College of Art. Tristram carried out work conserving and recording wall paintings. Rouse developed new conservation methods after realising that existing methods using wax damaged the paintings. Rouse also carried out educational work and published a number of books on wall paintings.
