A total eclipse from the start

Article Abstract:

An exhibition entitled 'As Dark As Light' is being staged at the Tate Gallery in St Ives, England, the Newlyn Gallery in Penzance, England, and at several other informal sites around Cornwall, England. This exhibition, mainly based on the visual arts, addresses the total eclipse of the sun due to take place on Aug 11, 1999. It highlights the problems that can arise when artists are required to make a response to a particular theme in order to ensure that they are funded and exhibited. The best piece is James Turrell's 'Elliptic Ecliptic,' an outdoor sky-dome.
