Addicts import a plague of robbery and violence to Dublin's fair city

Article Abstract:

There has been an enormous increase in drug abuse in Dublin, Ireland, in the 1980s and 1990s. Many drug addicts have been responsible for crimes including burglaries and muggings, and there is violent conflict between dealers. Attempts by the police and the Irish government to address this problem have brought little success. Some dealers have been arrested, but they are quickly replaced by new ones. New dealers are increasingly sourcing supplies from London, England, and Liverpool, England.
