Aftershock

Article Abstract:

A woman who grew up in Istanbul, Turkey, and whose family still lives there describes her experiences of the earthquake that hit the city on Aug 17, 1999. Her recollections of living through several small earthquakes as a small child are detailed. Her concerns for friends and family who were in the parts of Istanbul most affected by the latest earthquake are presented, and the atmosphere in the city following the earthquake is described.
