Alberto Gironella

Article Abstract:

Alberto Gironella was an artist who was a Mexican nationalist and was better known in Mexico than abroad. his approach has been called surrealist in contrast to social realism, but he was influenced by a wide range of artistic practices. He was born in 1929 to a Catalan father and a Yucatan mother who used the Mayan language. He initially sought to publish a novel and a work of poetry, and moved to painting when these projects were not successful.

Michael Richards

Article Abstract:

Artist Michael Richards was born in New York, NY, in 1963. He grew up in Kingston, Jamaica, and gained his BA from Queens College in 1985 and his MA from NYU in 1991. He completed the Whitney Museum Independent Study Program in 1993.
