All the fat you can eat

Article Abstract:

Fat Magnets International claims that its new Fat Magnets tablets are able to attract fat and prevent it being absorbed. The company believes that this represents a vital new development in weight control. Trials with chitosan, a fine powder ground of the shells of crabs, prawns and lobsters and which is the main active ingredient of the Fat Magnets tablets, have given some promising results, but many nutritionists remain sceptical. They are calling for more research to be undertaken before the effectiveness of chitosan can be established.

British teenagers lead the world in their sexual activity - why?

Article Abstract:

The UK has for many years been regarded as a sexless country, but in fact British teenagers are the most sexually active in the world. This is a reflection of the fact that the UK has a very strong youth culture. Teenagers are presented as an ideal, and are used extensively in advertising. This means that it is inevitable that teenagers will experiment sexually. Children are exposed to sex at an early age through television and magazines, and families no longer keep younger generations under strict control.

There'll be bluebirds over Hyde Park

Article Abstract:

Dame Vera Lynn still holds a special place in British history, even though it is now more than 50 years since her songs entertained the troops during the second world war. She continues to embody traditional British grace and coolness, and has considerable political influence. She is particularly keen for younger people to understand the importance of war.
