And a very happy Vaisakhi to you!

Article Abstract:

The 300th anniversary of Khalsa, which in effect marked the founding of an organized Sikh religion, has served to focus attention in the UK on the Sikh religion. This reflects the fact that different religious traditions are starting to be seen as part of modern society in the UK. Sikhism is now one of the six main religions taught in UK schools, but many young Sikhs feel that they have a dual identity. Many have little affinity with the religious elements of Sikhism, but still show respect for their origins.
