Another false dawn for the party of the centre

Article Abstract:

Liberal Democrat leader Paddy Ashdown is disappointed in his party's election results as the Tories triumphed in the U.K. general election. Though his campaign was slick, he was inconsistent, saying one moment that he did not want to see a hung Parliament and then that proportional representation was the formula for future political stability. Until the weekend before the election there had seemed to be movement by the electorate towards the centre but this turned out to be an illusion.
