London deserves to get lucky

Article Abstract:

Some observers have stated that London is receiving an unduly large proportion of National Lottery funds. However, this is not really the case. London is still a world-class city, but will only retain this status if it continues to receive extensive investment. It must be seen to have high quality arts and sports facilities, for example, if it is to attract foreign visitors and businesses, and its failure in this respect would have a negative imapct on the country as a whole.

Article Abstract:

The future of St Pancras Chambers, the former Midland Grand Hotel in London, England, remains uncertain as plans are made to construct a high-speed Channel rail link between St Pancras railway terminus in London and Folkestone. This is now a Grade 1 listed building, and has recently received investment of 10 million pounds sterling for the repair of its facade and roof. Its interior is potentially one of the best examples of a Victorian interior anywhere in the UK.
