Bare wires, hot copy

Article Abstract:

It is now possible in theory for travel writers to communicate with their head office from wherever they are in the world. With a laptop computer and a modem, the barriers created by large distances are eliminated. However, it can be very hard in some countries to obtain the necessary connection to transmit data. Latest power supply units can cope with almost all voltages, but other electronic equipment can sometimes be rather sensitive to local conditions. It is also important to protect equipment from careless handling at airports.

Welcome back to Britain

Article Abstract:

The hot summer helped to boost the numbers of people visting some UK seaside resorts, but these resorts can no longer really compete with cheap foreign holidays. People now tend to see them as day-trip destinations, rather than somewhere to spend a whole holiday. Resorts which have a new attraction, such as the Tate Gallery in St Ives, have tended to do better than others.
