Battle strategy for revenge on the insects

Article Abstract:

The World Health Organisation conducted field trials in Maroua, northern Cameroon, which eliminated the larvae of the mosquito Culex quinquefasciatus. This mosquito carries the parasite which causes filariasis. In Feb 1992 researchers sprayed the biopesticide from the natural toxin Bacillus sphaericus into cesspits and sewers. The number of mosquitoes fell by 90% by Jun 1992. This biopesticide is also being tested in Brazil, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Sri Lanka and India.

Somebody, somewhere will be watching you

Article Abstract:

The French Direction de la Surveillance du Territoire (DST) held over 660 roadshows in 1991 to draw attention to the increase in industrial espionage. More collaboration with foreign companies and laboratories adds to the risk. The compilation of information already publicly available makes up 3/4 of industrial espionage. Conference delegates should be careful what they say and scientists should have second thoughts before publishing.
