Internet code ruling hailed as free speech victory

Article Abstract:

The export of encryption technologies is currently restricted in the US, with these technologies being regarded as 'military weaponry.' However, a recent court ruling may lead to changes in this area. A district judge has stated that the US government may not prevent the posting of encryption programs on the Internet, as this goes against the guarantee of free speech contained in the constitution. Computer industry representatives have stated that this ruling will have a significant impact on US software producers.

Do you read me, comrade?

Article Abstract:

The conflict in Kosovo, Yugoslavia, has served to focus attention on the Internet, mainly by making it possible for journalists and even ordinary people to transmit news to the West. However, it is clear that the Internet has limitations as a means of communication, especially as it is not possible to verify the reliability of sources of information. Furthermore, the Internet cannot clarify every aspect of war, and each individual gains only a small insight into what is really happening.
