Black and red should take account of green

Article Abstract:

Companies are now coming under growing pressure to become involved in detailed environmental auditing. This is mainly due to the desire of insurers to minimise potential future liabilities. However, companies are unwilling to invest heavily in the services of outside environmental consultants, and most environmental audits are still undertaken by in-house staff. It may be more beneficial for companies to pay for detailed environmental audits every few years, rather than produce a very superficial report every year.

Systematic failure

Article Abstract:

The UK public sector has accumulated a very poor record in dealing with information technology (IT) contracting. Public bodies have failed to analyze future risks adequately, and have not contracted for which party should bear those risks as circumstances change. There is often a lack of understanding of IT at senior management level in the public sector, and IT skills levels are generally low. However, there are now indications that this situation is beginning to improve.

Homing in on housing associations

Article Abstract:

Small local authorities have transferred housing to specially-created, independent housing associations following government advice. The loss of Right to Buy (RTB) income caused problems for several Voluntary Transfer Housing Associations (VTHAs.) Members of the Association of Metropolitan Authorities (AMA) are concerned about splitting up stock. They wish to improve the housing and consider homelessness. Tenants are not keen on changing landlords.
