One little s-word is hardly enough

Article Abstract:

The slogan 'Yet it hurt. Yes it worked' produced recently by the UK's Conservative government amounts to an apology for the economic difficulties which ordinary people have had to face over recent years. Most people are of course well aware of the country's economic problems, so the government said nothing new in this respect. However, it showed a new approach in actually going against the political tradition of never making an apology.

A drama with genuine consequences for us all

Article Abstract:

There have been some very significant political changes in the UK since 1986. The political scene has been dominated by the Conservative party, and the single most important issue has been the UK's relation with the European Union. Political developments may sometimes seem unreal, rather like a soap opera. However, such developments have actually been very important, and will have real consequences for the UK.
