Britain bears brunt of ill feeling as Serbs suspect diplomatic chicanery

Article Abstract:

Serbian president Slobodan Milosevic's decision to annul municipal elections and deploy riot police against protesters has put an end to any hopes of creating commercial or political ties with European countries. Rome's magic circle

Article Abstract:

There are clear indications that the structure of the Colosseum in Rome, Italy, is deteriorating. The floor has been completely eroded, and large sections of the alleyway which leads into the stands are also missing. This building has suffered extensive damage throughout its history, and it is surprising to many observers that it is still standing at all. Romans regard the Colosseum as a charmed monument which brings good luck to the entire city.

Glitz takes a back seat on road to Rome

Article Abstract:

Economics professor Romano Prodi has begun a campaign to bring the centre-left to power at Italy's next general elections. He hopes to be able to beat Silvio Berlusconi to the post of prime minister, using a much more approachable and less sophisticated public image than his rival. He is now embarking on a three-month tour of debates, speeches and meetings in 100 towns and cities across Italy.
