There is considerable confusion surrounding the apparent surrender of Taliban forces to Northern Alliance troops in the area around Kandahar, Afghanistan. It is reported that the Taliban remain very much in control in Kandahar itself.

Article Abstract:

The Northern Alliance has carried out war crimes in Afghanistan with the assistance of the US Air Force, which has bombed strategic Taliban positions. Most journalists have overlooked these crimes. The US seems to feel that this is a legitimate response to the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon.
