Commando swoop on Serbs; SAS kill leading war-crime suspect in shoot-out and arrest underling

Article Abstract:

Simo Drljaca, former police chief of Prijedor, Bosnia, has been shot and killed by British soldiers, believed to be SAS members, who were attempting to arrest him on charges of war crimes. They managed to successfully arrest Milan Kovacevic, who was Drljaca's deputy when he was running detention camps at Omarska and Keraterm, Bosnia, in 1992. Drljaca was a leading figure in the Serb SDS party headed by Radovan Karadzic, and was given responsibility for removing the non-Serb majority from north-west Bosnia.

Dying, as the West bickers

Article Abstract:

Ethnic Albanians who have fled Kosovo, Yugoslavia, and are now living in refugee camps on the Macedonian border are facing extremely harsh conditions. Many are becoming ill, and a considerable number have died. Western governments are seeking to remove a small number of refugees, while most will remain close to Kosovo. However, little practical assistance has been offered so far.
