Darling, your fusion was simply wonderful

Article Abstract:

The city of Cambridge, England, is home to a considerable number of transient communities during the summer months. At Girton College, for example, the members of the Essex Young People's Orchestra are meeting for just five days. The teachers of St Andrew's Language School will spend two months there, while the actors of the Cambridge Shakespeare Festival will be there for 11 weeks. Relationships within transient communities tend to be strained initially, but will soon become very intense.

It was hell, darling, sheer hell

Article Abstract:

UK actors' union Equity has finally reached agreement with the advertising industry over fees for voice-overs. This dispute, which had lasted since Nov 1996, had also brought actors into conflict with Equity itself. Equity is now advising its members to work under the terms and conditions of a 1991 agreement under which actors are paid according to the ratings. The Institute of Practitioners in Advertising has emphasized that further negotiations must still take place.

Signing up for scientology

Article Abstract:

The Church of Scientology has attracted considerable controversy. Its theology seems to be very vague, and much of the writing of L. Ron Hubbard, its founder, seems to be merely a combination of common sense and platitudes. Scientologists seem very committed, even though being a member of the Church of Scientology over a long period can prove very expensive. Some Scientologists believe that the religion has cured them of psychological and physical problems.
