Dental care costs set to stay painful

Article Abstract:

It seems likely that the trend towards private dental practice which is currently taking place in the UK will continue. The British Dental Association has called for the re-introduction of free National Health Service dental checks, but the government has not made a specific commitment to providing additional funding for dentistry. Many dentists will now only undertake free National Health Service dental checks for children and other patients who are exempt from charges. This has led to growing demand for payment schemes which assist patients in funding dental treatment.

Why bulls are horning in on the Eastern Europe story

Article Abstract:

The co-manager of Baring Emerging Europe investment trust, Martin Taylor, believes that eastern Europe ranks second to south-east Asia for potential stock market growth, with markets trading at 9.5 times 1996 earnings and 8 times 1997 earnings. According to Taylor, the region's prices are undervalued in relation to the fall in political risk from 1994-1996, and access to the European Union. There is expected to be volatility, but for long term investments the outlook is excellent.
