Desperately seeking privacy

Article Abstract:

Public searches for missing people can in many cases be completely legitimate, especially if a child is involved. However, there are cases in which the person concerned has gone missing for specific reasons, such as violence in the home. In these cases, efforts to find the missing person and bring about a reunion with relatives can in fact be dangerous. Relatives of the missing person could want a reunion for their own purposes, rather than for the benefit of the missing person.

Give me a child with burning ambition ...

Article Abstract:

The Juvenile Firesetters Programme (JFP), pioneered by the Tyne and Wear Fire Service, aims to deal with young people who show signs of becoming pyromaniacs. So far, 92 children have been counselled under the programme, and only four have 'reoffended.' Those running the programme believe that arson can be treated very effectively, as it is a behaviour which offers no obvious reward.
