Deutsche Telekom fights back on all fronts

Article Abstract:

Deutsche Telekom sought to merge with Telecom Italia, but this attempt failed, and the company also faced problems with its alliance with France Telecom. Deutsche Telekom is recovering from these setbacks, however, and is carrying out a major corporate restructuring. The company plans to expand abroad and may try to set up separate holding companies for on-line and mobile telephony assets. Deregulation has led to increased competition in Germany which has been a catalyst for change.
