Dogged Clinton eyes the finishing line

Article Abstract:

Presidential candidate Bill Clinton is covering nine cities in eight states in the last weekend before the election. He aims to allay the doubts of white suburban voters by stressing his modern conservative Democrat principles. He would promote personal responsibility and be ruthless against crime. He insists taxes would not be increased but aims for economic growth, affordable health care for all and quality in education. Polling suggests electoral votes will prefer the Democrat.

Clinton fails to take the South by storm

Article Abstract:

Winning African-American support is crucial to Democratic candidates and southerner Bill Clinton is unlikely to have problems except that the number of blacks who vote cannot be guaranteed. Anti-Bush feelings ensure votes for Clinton, but also he has gained respect for employing many blacks in government positions and for his promises for civil rights advancement. His moderate stance and firm attitude on crime appeal to traditionally conservative southern whites.
