Partners who prefer to stay just good friends

Article Abstract:

Alliances are becoming increasingly prevalent, especially in the very large network industries such as telecommunications. In fact, alliances may have more of a future in other business sectors, due to the rapid nature of change and the complexity of customer requirements in many of the most rapidly expanding service industries. There is a strong argument in favour of service industries forming alliances, allowing different national firms to try to learn from each other and pass business between themselves.

We're plugged into a mobile future

Article Abstract:

The mobile phone now plays a significant role in communications in the UK, with almost one-third of adults having a mobile phone. In the near future, the mobile phone will also take on another important role, becoming a point of entry into electronic commerce. In the US, electronic commerce is based almost exclusively on the personal computer, while in Europe it will probably be increasingly delivered via mobile phones. The mobile phone has a number of advantages over the personal computer, including its small size.
