Dutch floods drive 250,000 from their homes

Article Abstract:

Extensive flooding across the Netherlands, Austria, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and France has already caused several deaths, with a number of people still missing. The Netherlands has been particularly badly affected, and 250,000 people are now abandoning their homes as rivers reach the stage where they could break through the dykes. Some communities in the land van Maas en Waal and Limburg regions are already deserted, and residents in some other areas have been told to leave immediately.

Row with a bus driver led to Swiss massacre

Article Abstract:

Friedrich Leibacher, who killed 14 people in the cantonal assembly in Zug, Switzerland, had a grievance with the authorities connected with an argument he had with a bus driver in 1998. Questions are now being raised about how a clearly mentally unstable man could have been allowed to hold three gun licences.
