Regional airports still waiting in the wings

Article Abstract:

The UK's regional airports are still having to fight very hard to attract travellers. In many cases, people are unaware of the scheduled services offered by regional airports, and these airports can find it hard to encourage new airlines to offer international services. They face strong competition from Gatwick and Heathrow, and further problems are created by the fact that they often compete against each other. They will only be really successful when they can encourage travellers to abandon Gatwick and Heathrow.

Eastern promise quickly fulfilled

Article Abstract:

Western business travel practices have gradually become established in Eastern Europe during the 1990s. Countries such as Poland and the Czech Republic now have good hotels, stable currencies and no banned areas. However, this is still not the case in Georgia, Russia or the Ukraine, where it is very difficult and expensive to obtain a visa and hotels continue to overcharge. Airlines now offer excellent deals on travel to Prague, Czech Republic, while British Airways and Malev fly direct daily to Budapest, Hungary.
