Edifice complex at the Coliseum

Article Abstract:

The Coliseum theatre in London, England, is one of the best theatrical sites in the city, being surrounded by many bars and restaurants. However, the English National Opera has decided that it wants to move from the Coliseum to a purpose-built facility, stating that the present building has a considerable number of drawbacks, especially as it is in a poor state of repair. This decision overlooks the fact that the English National Opera has operated very successfully from the Coliseum for almost 30 years.

The model of a new statesman

Article Abstract:

The New Statesman must combine both satirical and analytical writing, according to new editor Ian Hargreaves. It must be intellectual, and must offer interesting and original views. It is set to present a strong challenge to the Spectator, which has seen a loss of confidence under editor Frank Johnson and has made significant changes to its line-up of writers. There are already signs that the Specator is taking the challenge seriously.
