Claudia Parsons

Article Abstract:

Writer and traveller Claudia Parsons was born in India, but was taken to the UK at the age of three. She travelled extensively at a time when it was unusual for women to travel at all, especially alone or with men to whom they were not married. She often ran short of money while travelling, and had to devise enterprising ways to continue her journeys. She was humorous, well-read and able, but had a very self-deprecating view of herself.
