Starvation looms for six million Afghan refugees

Article Abstract:

Aid agencies warn that very large numbers of Afghans will face starvation if food supplies cannot be delivered to them. It is vital that aid is delivered very soon, before the winter weather makes some regions inaccessible. The United Nations' World Food Programme is planning airdrops, but some observers feel that this will not be sufficient.
