Freedom tiptoes out the door

Article Abstract:

A recent case in which the Court of Appeal sat at night and approved a judge's decision to force a pregnant woman to undergo a Caesarian which she did not want has worrying implications for the future of medical treatment and for human rights. In particular, there is concern about the fact that a gagging order was approved, thus preventing any details of the case from being revealed. There is a danger that medical professionals will be able to ignore the wishes of pregnant women, violating their human rights by forcing medical treatment on them.

Whose freedom is it anyway?

Article Abstract:

It has become extremely common for human rights abuses in China to be portrayed in media such as films in a way which is very unflattering to China. Little attention is given to the fact that ordinary Chinese people do not wish to be identified by what their government does. Furthermore, no consideration is given to the possibility of the US acting in a bullying way towards China. Most recently, this extreme approach to China has been seen in the film 'Tibetan Freedom Concert,' which shows China in a very poor light.
