It remains extremely difficult for aspiring entrepreneurs in the UK to gain access to funding to support their ideas. It is important for entrepreneurs to explore all possible lines of approach, forming strong relationships before a down-turn emerges in the financial markets. Furthermore, policy-makers should consider ways of adjusting the various investment incentives for enterprise in response to market demands. In particular, attention should be given to practice in the US, where very large sums have been raised for new businesses.
