From the commission's corpse a new democratic Europe could arise

Article Abstract:

There is a clear need for a Europe-wide structure to address international problems such as speculative movements of capital and environmental damage. However, it is also true that many European structures lack democracy and accountability. The resignation of the entire European Commission has created the opportunity to establish an effective European political entity in which all decisions would be taken at the lowest appropriate level. It may be desirable for commissioners to be directly elected in their own countries, with these elections coinciding with those for the European Parliament.

Article Abstract:

Not every regrettable killing in Afghanistan is a war crime

Article Abstract:

It is difficult to claim that the massacre of Taliban prisoners of war at Qalai Janghi fort in northern Afghanistan is truly a war crime. However, there must be an investigation, as the horrors of war should not make us dismissive of what happened there.
