God, the ultimate muse

Article Abstract:

It is common for pop stars to turn to religion, possibly in order to fill a void in their lives. Boy George, for example, has turned to Buddhism, while Madonna has chosen Kabbala and occult mystical tradition. Nowadays, turning to religion does not seem to significantly affect a pop star's music, but that was not necessarily the case in the past. In the case of Cat Stevens, for example, turing to Islam in the 1970s brought his singing career to a complete end.
