Godfrey Davis

Article Abstract:

Manuscript scholar and archivist Godfrey Davis studied Greats at Balliol College, Oxford, England, and was Rome Scholar in Ancient History in 1938. He became an Assistant Keeper at the Department of Manuscripts in the British Museum after the second world war, and was appointed Deputy Keeper in 1961. He was particularly interested in conservation, and played a key role in setting up an independent workshop in the department.

David Foxon

Article Abstract:

Bibliographer David Foxon was born in Paignton, England, in 1923. He studied English at Magdalen College, Oxford, England, and then joined the Civil Service. After two years, he gained an assistant keepership in the Dept of Printed Books at the British Museum.
