Hague faces naked truth as Thatcher snubs party

Article Abstract:

UK Conservative party leader William Hague has invited six of his parliamentary colleagues to his wedding to Ffion Jenkins, which will take place at the Palace of Westminster on Dec 19, 1997. There will also be 140 family friends at the ceremony. He has not invited former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, and it is reported that she feels snubbed. Some Conservative MPs also feel rather resentful about the wedding arrangements, especially as they have been asked to contribute towards two presents, each costing more than 1,000 pounds sterling.

Ffion Jenkins: a model Tory fiancee

Article Abstract:

Ffion Jenkins, the fiancee of UK Conservative party leader William Hague, has already become extremely popular among members of the party. They believe that her youth and vitality will be a great asset to the party, and feel that she has coped very well with considerable media attention. Like Cherie Booth, wife of Prime Minister Tony Blair, she has decided that it is advisable to say as little as possible in public. In particular, she never makes her political views known.
