Heroin trail that led to the heart of London's Jewish community

Article Abstract:

Drugs officers in the UK believe that they have uncovered a drug operation involving Orthodox Jews in Antwerp, Belgium, and the Russian mafia. A Jew from Antwerp was arrested in 1995 for trying to smuggle heroin into the UK, and is now serving an 11-year prison sentence. Two more Jewish men have now been arrested on smuggling charges. The arrests are believed to have caused considerable embarrassment to the Orthodox community in London, England, which has never been associated with drugs or violent crime.
