He's football crazy, pop music mad

Article Abstract:

The recent purchase of QPR football club by Chris Wright, founder of Chrysalis records, is the latest in a series of diversifications by pop music executives into other areas of business. Like his 1960s contemporaries, he began in business with a love of music, but has also made a great deal of music from it, and is now worth an estimated 60 million pounds sterling. He has attracted mixed views about whether he has genuine business abilities, as has Chris Blackwell, founder of Island records.

The cop said: 'Your mother's been killed.' (crime novelist James Ellroy)(Interview)

Article Abstract:

A child who experiences the murder of a parent may try not to think at all about what has happened, according to crime novelist James Ellroy, whose mother was murdered when he was 10 years old. Sometimes, the child transposes the dead parent into other characters in order to avoid thinking about the parent as a real person. For some children, an experience of this kind can shape the rest of their lives, and they may still think about the dead parent frequently even many years later.

Why Channel Four is right to show the horrifying pictures of mass graves recently uncovered in Srebrenica

Article Abstract:

There is a strong trend in the media in the UK towards protecting audiences from the brutality of some true stories, rather than exposing it. Channel Four has deviated from this trend with its film 'True Stories: The Grave,' which is to be broadcast on Jul 1, 1997. This details the evacuation of men from Vukovar, Croatia, by the Yugoslav National Army. In particular, it shows the exhumation of the mass grave into which the men were placed when they were shot dead.
