Hire car crash in Spain kills five

Article Abstract:

UK holiday makers hiring cars in Europe should use reputable firms, even though they charge more, warns the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, commenting on the need for tourists to take care when driving abroad. Two popular holiday destinations in Europe, Spain and France have double the number of fatal road accidents per annum compared with the UK, which has the second lowest road death rate after Sweden. The AA (Automobile Association) stresses that tourists need to concentrate all the time, particularly during the busy summer season, when many European factories shut down resulting in more people travelling on the roads. Tourists should avoid driving in bad weather, in the dark, and when they are over-tired.
