Graduate recruiters in the UK frequently overlook graduates aged over 25. Some recruiters assume that mature graduates have spent time out of the job market, and may therefore lack up-to-date skills. Mature graduates must look closely at their abilities and ensure that they present themselves to potential employers in a way that shows they can cope with the modern working environment. They must also emphasize that they have a deeper understanding of real life than younger graduates.

The Internet chat site Dobedo, developed in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1997, has proved extremely popular. It was launched as a free chat site in Oct 1998, and on average 3,000 new people sign up every day. The Swedish web design company that wrote the initial story for the site has now abandoned all other contracts to devote itself to the site. It launched in the UK in Sep 1999, and since then has gained almost 20,000 registered users.
