How come he's still alive

Article Abstract:

Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones band has been with the band since 1962, when he set it up with Brian Jones and Mick Jaggar. He became a heroin addict at the time of the group's best albums between 1968 and 1972, and his playing was sensual and unsurpassed. He realizes that many fans in the 1990s go to see the band for reasons of nostalgia, and he does not try to be fashionable. He sees himself as communicating with several generations and this makes the group's performances less concentrated, though support from younger fans is heartening, Richards argues.

The day the music died

Article Abstract:

Very mixed views have been expressed in the UK about the impact of pop music on culture. Some observers regard pop music as one of the lowest forms of culture, but for other observers this is a positive thing. Others argue that there are no longer any clear distinctions between high and low culture, as even classical music is establishing links with the more popular cultural forms. It seems that more and more ordinary people are now being attracted to celebrity culture, and this trend is also being seen in pop music.

Queen Mother of rock

Article Abstract:

John Peel is a broadcaster who joined the British Broadcasting Corp (BBC)'s Radio 1 in 1967. He has referred to his wife as 'The Pig' due to he way of laughing, and many fans see themselves as his children, sending Christmas cards to Peel and his wife. He has been a presenter of rock music programs on the radio, and has also moved into TV broadcasting. He has taken a rebel stance by supporting new forms of proletarian music, yet is not a rebel at heart, and has survived at the BBC by keeping a low profile.
