How to be a cut above the rest

Avant garde artist and writer Brion Gysin, who died in 1986, is profiled. Moroccan Jajouka music was a key element in Gysin's concept of art as a magical process. He was particularly influential for his cut-up techniques, in which music, film and words were cut up and reordered.

Juan Munoz

Artist Juan Munoz was born in Madrid, Spain, in 1953. He studied at the Central School of Art in London, England, and at Croydon Art School, and in 1981 studied at the Pratt Graphic Center in New York, NY. He was mainly seen as a sculptor, but tackled many different art forms.
