'I can't blame mum for the accident.'

Article Abstract:

Sue Dowse recalls feeling extremely guilty about the car accident in 1993 in which her son John-Paul was very badly injured. She feels that he lost a great deal of his childhood, and she was therefore very interested in the possibility of claiming compensation. She believes that the accident has brought her family closer together. John-Paul emphasizes that he does not hold his mother responsible for the accident. He feels that his life has become less restricted than it was in the years immediately following the accident.
